It has become quite a popular thing to say.
'
I'm an entrepreneur.'
Everyone seems to be an entrepreneur of sorts.
hmm...I know some people who would deny this at the drop of a hat.
But think about it, have you have ever exchanged anything for value? your skills, knowledge or even just the ability to connect people for a business deal. If you have, then you are an entrepreneur in some way.
If you haven't, we need to get you checked. Lol...just kidding.
I find that a common thread in my conversations with business people is. bustling excitement about opportunities they are about to tap into in the market place.
No doubt, there are opportunities but the funny thing is, more often than not, we do not set goals to seize these opportunities.
This is the beginning of the second half of the year. Have you outlined the goals you want your business to achieve before the end of the year?
Now, this is not a motivational post on why you need to set goals and why if you do not have a plan, you are planning to fail. I'm sure you've read enough of that.
Nope, this is a practical reminder to you to define where you need to be at the end of the year or you will find yourself anywhere life decides to place you
and the tragic thing is, you won't recognize that you are nowhere.
The only way to know if you are making any progress is if you have established goals to benchmark growth
Goals define the path that take you to your destination. They create a target for your energy so you don't keep dissipating energy on what's taking you nowhere.
Think about it this way. When you set a goal in your business to have 10 clients on a monthly basis or increase your sales by 100%, your mind forces you to figure out how you can achieve it. You will actively try to figure out how to get more customers to sell to or create more products that you can sell.
You'll identify gaps in knowledge or skills that you need to fill immediately to help you get to your destination.
If your business seems to be slowing in activity, it will force you to be innovative and not just keep fanning a dying flame.
Growth in life and business doesn't just happen. You allow it to happen by doing the following;
Defining the destination
What's the vision? You can define the overall destination in specific terms and the route to this destination in general terms. It's like driving. When you leave the house for a drive to a friend's house, you'll have a particular route in mind.
However, you might find a lot of traffic on that route and choose to take another route. What's important is this alternative route will still get you to your defined destination.
Bridging the gap
A lot of times , we stop at defining our preferred destination and assume we'll arrive at the destination by magic. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's a really competitive world.
To stay ahead, you need to keep bridging your knowledge gaps. Acknowledge where your ability begins and where it ends and bridge the gap with
numerous resources online, attend live workshops in your industry, read books or if you need customized help,

Executing
Setting goals and making plans are no use if you don't execute. Just do it. If it doesn't work out, you'll know one more thing that doesn't work. Treat them like experiments and not failures.
