Tipping points; recognizing and taking action

Written on :

It was a normal morning. Nothing dramatic or really different about the weather compared to the previous day. I went through the normal morning drill; early morning prayers, bath, dress-up, head out to work. I got to the office quite early, took a seat at my desk, signed onto the banking application ready to carry out transactions for customers that worked in the door. My Bank Manager stopped by my desk and he had just recommended for me to be retained in the branch as a full time staff  to the Head office. I was surprised to hear that but quite happy with the recommendation. I went back to my desk and continued work as usual. I think it was at mid day, it hit me. This is not what i wanted to be doing in the next few years of my life. This was a tipping point for me. I had worked across roles and i just didn't want to continue working in that bank. I reached out to a firm that had made me an offer before the mandated National Youth Service program, informing them i was available and, thankfully, i was offered a role in the firm.
